Director Cindy Meehl’s memorable documentary has the advantage of being the behind-the-scenes true story of the man behind Nick Evan's novel and the film made from it by Sundance’s own Robert Redford, the producer-director-star of The Horse Whisperer. Buck follows Buck Brannaman, from his abusive childhood to his phenomenally successful approach to horses. Buck eschews the violence of his upbringing and teaches people to communicate with their horses through leadership and sensitivity, not punishment. Buck possesses near magical abilities as he dramatically transforms horses and people.
