Join us for a screening of Lee Krasner: The Long View, a 30-minute documentary completed in 1978 that explores the life, work, and artistic vision of pioneering Abstract Expressionist painter Lee Krasner.

Through interviews with Krasner and leading figures in the New York art world, alongside archival materials, the film examines her artistic development, her influential 1977 exhibition Eleven Ways to Use the Words to See, her relationship with Jackson Pollock.  It highlights Krasner’s innovative approach to painting, her independence within a male-dominated art world, and the complexities of her personal and professional life.

Filmmaker and art historian Barbara Rose offers an intimate portrait of Krasner’s strength, warmth, courage, and vitality, celebrating an artist whose identity and legacy stand firmly on their own terms: Lee Krasner is Lee Krasner.

The film will be followed by a Q & A featuring filmmaker Lana Jokel, who coproduced and edited the film and with Helen Harrison, art historian, curator, journalist, and author.
